Amoana kienastii #6271 outcross (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: In 1971 this species was published as Encyclia kienastii. Then in 2012 the genus was changed and it became properly known as Amoana kienastii. It comes from the state of Oaxaca, Mexico where it is found in oak forest at around 6000 ft elevation. Culture: This is from a monsoon climate where winters are cool, dry and sunny because they grow in deciduous forest and the sky is clear. The summers are warm, wet and shaded by clouds. Plants grow and bloom best when these conditions can be approximated. I've done best with this mounted but it can also be grown potted. Water and fertilize during the growing season. Reduce water in the winter and do not fertilize until new growth starts. Parents: Amoana kienastii
