Dendrobium cinnabarinum 5890 ('CH19' x 'Ron's Image') x (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). The Species: It grows in Borneo at elevations from 3000 to 6250 feet elevation. It blooms off and on during the year from the older, leafless pseudobulbs. Mature plants are about 24" tall. The flowers on one of the parents are up to 3" and the other is about 2.25" wide. Culture: I grow this species best with 50F minimum nights. I have also grown it at 56F but prefer the cooler temperatures. I fertilize them with dilute fertilizer most of the year and a bit lower strength in winter. I grow the mature plants in moss, fine bark mix or medium bark. They will also do very well mounted as long as they go try for very long. No dry rest is needed. Recently I have been adding some oyster shell to the mix or top dressed it. Pod parent: Dendrobium cinnabarinum 'CH19'
Pollen parent: Dendrobium cinnabarinum 'Ron's Image' |
