Dendrobium engae outcross #5923 ('Australia' x 'Phil') (approximately 25 seedlings per flask). Species: This grows only in Papua New Guinea at elevations between 6000 and 9000 ft. The 10" inflorescense is capable of carrying up to 18 of the flowers. The flowers open widely and are up to 3.2" wide that last about 2 months and have the fragrance of beeswax and honey. The plants grow high up on large branches in the highlands where they used to be widespread but are becoming rare. Culture: I water with dilute fertilizer all year. Rain fall is heavy all year with less rain in the winter. The plants can approach dryness but should not go completely dry. Even though they are high up in the trees in nature, filter light is best with no direct sunlight. Use a well draining medium and repot before it breaks down. Capsule parent: Dendrobium engae
Pollen parent: Dendrobium engae |
