Pet Urns From Sonoma Urn Company About Our Urns: They are handcrafted in Northern California of the finest stoneware clay with subtle glazes that will invite you to touch. At Sonoma Urn Company we understand that the lose of a pet can be a difficult and painful experience. Many people have expressed a desire to hold the memory of a much loved pet close as a comforting reminder of the strong bond that existed, but they don't want to announce it to the world and we think these urns will do just that. We make many urns appropriately sized for pets in an assortment of styles and colors to give you choices. Sizing: An urn can be too small, but "too large" is a matter of personal preference. Generally, one will want an urn that is big enough to comfortably hold the cremated remains, but not overly big so that it seems out of proportion. Urn sizes are given in cubic inches and approximately 1 cubic inch of volume will be need for each pound of body weight before cremation. If in doubt, it is best to choose one that is slightly larger rather than slightly smaller. Some people prefer to scatter part of the ashes and keep only a small portion. In that case a smaller urn may be preferable. Sealing the urn: The lids have a flange to hold it in place and can easily be sealed for security. For a permanent seal use silicone caulk (availabe in hardware stores) or for a temporary seal use museum wax (available free on request). Guaranteed: We believe in what we make. Occassionally a customer will receive an urn and realize that it is not going to be the right size–too big or too small, or perhaps the color is different than expected.
